Prove It caught my eye while on the hunt for a Yearling. I walked past her a few times telling myself we didnt need an unproven broodmare in our small herd. Each time I walked by her gentle easy going nature stopped me. Before leaving I asked for her history. It turns out that this gentle mare was bred for racing and showed tons of promise as a foal but a tragic training accident left her unfit to start her 2 year old year. They brought her home and rehabbed her and started her training again as a 3 year old but the stresses of race training left her sore and uncooperative. She was brought back home and turned out for another year but it was decided that she just wasnt going to make life at the track and was retired to brood. Prove It was retrained a few years later and shows promise as a hunter. While she has a heart and fire to be a jumper it was felt that the stresses of higher jumping would be more of a risk than we were willing to take.
We will bring her along slowly as a hunter and see how she fairs. If its determined that the stress of it is to much for her she will be retired to the flat or even broodmare status.
