What can I say about this beautiful boy that isnt already evident by looking at him. G is a once in a lifetime chance to own a former champion. When we saw him in the paddock he was withdrawn and sullen seeming to have lost that special something. My heart instantly went out to him and I decided that we should bring him home and try to perk him back up.
After a thorough vet examination we found nothing physically wrong with G. He was in great physical shape even though his mood was down. We decided to give him alot of attention and a chance to settle in. He would watch the young horses training on the track with such interest that one of our trainers decided to take him out. While we have no plans of racing G again it was evident that the track was were he was happiest. His head was up his ears were forward and that spark had returned to his eyes. It was soon decided that G would return to training but only as a pony horse. Even though hes not racing he seems to have taken to the job and waits patiently every morning after breakfast for his rider.
While we had our doubts about using a stallion in this position G has been nothing but a gentlemen in every situation he has encountered. We dont know what the future holds for G or if he will even be agreeable to a show career. However only time will tell.
